Senior Living

Eastport invites you to make your golden years, golden here!

Maine has one of the oldest populations in the country and the Way DownEast area has adapted to meet the needs of a more mature population. Several communities, including Eastport, have active senior centers that provide a friendly social environment and diversified weekly programs, such as exercise classes, as well as routinely serving up wholesome meals and friendly conversation.

Eastport is a lively community for all ages. In 2016, the City of Eastport became a member of the AARP Age Friendly Network. Town leaders developed a plan to make outdoor spaces more usable for older residents, with more accessible parks and better downtown sidewalks. There is an active gardening club here, a growing pickleball league, an historic library, and a vibrant local music, theater and arts scene. The Eastport Art Center is a handicap accessible venue that offers weekly entertainment, creative workshops and special events and the Peavey Memorial Library offers many senior services.

Eastport and the surrounding area offers a variety of age-friendly activities. Bold Coast Running club holds weekly runs in various locations, join the Eastport Pickleball Club, enjoy the handicap accessible waterfront walkways, and the rich variety of state and local parks,
