STATE & INTERNATIONAL PARKS

If you enjoy hiking, there are several trails at Shackford Head State Park, all with beautiful ocean views.

A bit farther south, Cobscook Bay State Park offers hiking trails and campsites. Other attractions include St. Croix Island International Historic Site commemorating the arrival of the first French settlers in North America in 1604, the Devil’s Head Conservation Area in Calais with views over the St. Croix River to the New Brunswick shore, the Reversing Falls Park in Pembroke, Gleason Cove in Perry that offers a boat launch ramp and picnic tables, the Moosehorn National Wildlife Refuge whose two sections span more than 24,000 acres of trails and guided walks, and the West Quoddy Head State Park with hiking, beachcombing and picnicking and the iconic lighthouse. Just across Passamaquoddy Bay and accessible by car ferry and road is the Roosevelt Campobello International Park on Campobello Island, New Brunswick. The ferry will also take you to Deer Island, New Brunswick, a pleasant 15-minute ride with the chance to see the whirlpool, whales and other marine life.
